Dispute Resolution Center
Description edit
The mission of The Dispute Resolution Center is to provide confidential and affordable dispute resolution services, through mediation and training, to individuals and organizations in Washtenaw and Livingston counties. The Center's confidential services will be affordable for all members of the community with the goals of reducing tension, preserving relationships, eliminating prejudice, and improving the quality of justice. The Center will promote community participation and strive to maintain an environment where people listen to one another and work together to resolve their differences
The Dispute Resolution Center (DRC) is one of 21 non-profit agencies in Michigan that were created by the Community Dispute Resolution Program (CDRP) under the direction of the State Court Administrative Office. The Dispute Resolution Center provides low cost mediation services to the public and serves Washtenaw & Livingston Counties through our office in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Referrals to The DRC come from the courts, governmental units, social service agencies, and individuals.
During 2002, approximately 11,000 Michigan citizens resolved disputes through the CDRP centers by the use of facilitative mediation, where disputing parties can reach win/win solutions. Almost 80% of all cases going to mediation were resolved with written agreements, with case disposition achieved within 22 days after intake.
