Description
From childhood I've always been fascinated by airplanes and often wondered how they managed to stay up there. I always imagined myself in the pilot's seat taking control. Even before that, I used to gaze at birds and be jealous of how they could just lift off and fly.
I lifted a chair from my room and placed it on the top of the stairway, and I got on top. I shouted "Mummy, leave the kitchen door open and I'll fly in for my dinner". Hands went up, knees went down, I leapt and and adjusted myself to fly towards the bottom of the stairs.....
"Hello wee man" said this strange looking woman dressed in a nurse's uniform. My mother and father then appeared and it was then apparent that my superman's suit was indeed a faulty one! I ended spending Christmas in hospital and had to get my tongue stitched back on, and ended up with multiple fractures. I can tell you now, Santa got called some names that day!!
