Description
MASL offers divisions for U09 through U19 girls’ teams and U09 through U14 boys’ teams. Divisions are: Senior divisions for girls teams U15 through U19; Junior divisions for girls teams and boys teams U11 through U14 (playing 11 v 11); and Novice divisions (playing 8 v 8) for girls teams and boys teams U09 through U12.
MASL is providing the option of 8 v 8 play for U12 teams. USYS has been encouraging teams U11 and U12 to play on smaller fields, 8 players per side. This summer’s regional tournament has an 8 v 8 division for U12 teams. MASL offers this opportunity for clubs to follow USYS’ recommendations or to field an additional team when there are too many players for one but not enough for two 11 v 11 teams. This option provides those additional players the chance to develop their skills and gain valuable competitive experience.
All teams must be USYS registered and players must have individual player passes. A copy of each team’s official, stamped, signed, team roster must be on file in the league office before play begins. Teams playing 11 v 11 may have a maximum of 18 players. Teams playing 8 v 8 may have a maximum of 14 players.
