Mitsubishi cars and trucks were introduced to the New Zealand market in the early 1970s by Todd Motors Ltd who assembled vehicles in Porirua and retailed them through a national dealer network. In 1987 Mitsubishi Motors Corporation bought out Todd Motors and the New Zealand operation became a fully owned subsidiary.
Eleven years later vehicle assembly operations ceased and today the company sources Mitsubishi vehicles from several countries including Japan, Australia and Thailand.
There are 80 sales and parts and services dealerships for cars and heavy commercials throughout the country including the Kirk Motors chain of car dealerships and the Roadlife network of heavy truck dealerships. They sell a range comprising 50 cars, vans and utes and 30 heavy commercials.
