My Background
I grew up in Ohio, the vortex of America's Bermuda Triangle, also known as the Midwest. I was raised in your average middle class household complete with a dog, a cat, a younger brother, and a parental unit that divorced shortly after my 18th birthday. I was educated by the fine folks at Cuyahoga Community College, also known to it's students as Tri-C, Tri-High, or "Tri-Harder" due to it's incredible resemblance to High School. I soon found out that post secondary education was not for me and left to "pursue other options" which is a theory that, in my life, is still loosely defined.
How I pay the Bills
I work days, and often nights in the realm of big-box retail as a manager extraordinaire. So many people criticize the work that I choose to do, and the company that I work for, but I truly enjoy what I do. I believe that in so many ways, we help people everyday. As of 2.15.06 I will be moonlighting as the Editor of the web's newest gem, Film School Rejects.com. The site will be dedicated to offering readers honest, consistant, and interesting reviews on the products of the Film Industry. It is also a way to further my secret personal mission of breaking through and finding my place in the Film Industry, possibly as a Movie Critic. It is a pipedream to say the least, but the journey will be fun.
What this Blog is About
The theme of my blog, The Modern Guy has been a relatively fluid concept since this site's inception in early 2005. It began as a place where I could share dating and style advice with guys with even less societal prowess than myself. Once I realized that so few were listening, I blindly tried to dive head first into the arena of political blogging but failed to achieve the required amount of relevance needed in order to be read by anyone who follows politics. Soon after the failure of my political agenda I went into a period known to the few fans of my work as the "dark times" when updates we scarce, content was patched together from various topics, and my neo-capitalism began to shine through thanks to Google's Adsense program (a program that is yet to actually net more than $30...) Sometime after the most recent Christmas season I came to the realization that my site will never be a political blog, or a cash-cow, or even a decent "hit magnet." All I can hope for is to give some advice about dating (which is a topic that has come full circle), tell my own personal story, and make people laugh. And so far so good in the New Year.
