- Initiative 153, which will reform lobbying in Montana, requires a 2 year cooling off period for senior state government officials before they may become a licensed lobbyist. The measure would apply to legislators, appointed state officials, elected state officials, and personal staff of elected state officials. The initiative would not prohibit representing oneself, or volunteering or doing other minimal lobbying that does not constitute paid professional lobbying that requires a license.
