The woodland of the parks and hills are mostly hardwood and are alive with white-tail deer, wild turkey, rabbits, quail, squirrels and a multitude of songbirds.
Water and outdoor activities are just part of what Salem offers the visitor. The new Commons Complex is used for rodeo’s, horse shows, festivals and many other activities with camping facilities available here. Art and craft shows are held throughout the year at the twelve acre Bonebrake Nature and History Center located just a couple of block from the historic courthouse on the square. All summer long we have country auctions where one can buy treasures, find nostalgia free and be enriched by the warmth of the sun and the people who are glad you came.
