MoorHouseSchool, a mixed, non-maintained residential special school, is nationally recognised as a school which initiated, and continues to lead, the specialist educational field for children with specific speech and language impairment. It was opened in 1947 as the first school of its type for children with severe specific disorders of speech and language.
