Morning Theft is a New York City band, but doesn't like to say so. Instead of getting clumped into the same genre of a seemingly endless line of bands paying homage to 80's new wave synth sounds, Morning Theft is determined to take its own brand of distinctive rock music and deliver it to its audience, uncompromised and unapologetic. The band draws from their collective influences, displayed on the band's three releases, the most recent being self-released "The News Says It's Raining In New York" disc. Hints of the Replacements, Pixies, Sunny Day Real Estate, U2, Nirvana, Fugazi, The Cure, and Smashing Pumpkins combine to form the band's distinct sound.
