- Mountainside Chocolates, family owned and operated, is located near Asheville in North Carolina's Nantahala Mountains, bordering the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. We lovingly make all of our chocolates and confections by hand, right in our shop, using only the freshest ingredients and carefully guarded Drost family recipes that date back to 1887. We do not use preservatives or paraffin in our chocolates – a difference you'll appreciate. We love what we do and hope you will love our candies, too!
