Description
Cougar Elementary houses kindergarten through third grade students. The school opened in January of 2001 and combines high-end technology with a unique instructional program called Parallel Block Scheduling which fosters small group instruction and specialized teaching in the content areas. Recent upgrades to Cougar's technology include 156 new PCs in the three technology labs featuring flat-screen monitors, 16 new computers in the library and all new teacher and classroom presentation computers.
Home to the fourth and fifth grade students in Manassas Park; new renovations on the school include new lights and window shades throughout the building and a newly remodeled main office that increases visibility for office staff. New technology at MPES includes a state-of-the-art wireless mobile lab and science teaching labs that include Interactive white boards and LCD projection systems. MPES will undertake a new music program in the 2005-2006 school year which will foster instrumental music instruction for all fifth grade students.
Sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students attend Manassas Park Middle School. Core content subjects and exploratory classes such as technology, skill-building and band work together to meet the academic needs of all students.
