Audubon Mississippi, the Mississippi state office of the National Audubon Society, operates Strawberry Plains Audubon Center in Holly Springs, a 2,500-acre education center and nature preserve, and has its Bird Conservation Office in Vicksburg and its Coastal Project Office in Moss Point. The Vicksburg office oversees regional projects along the lower Mississippi River and coordinates bird conservation efforts such as the Important Bird Areas program. The Moss Point office is developing a comprehensive nature education program on the Mississippi Gulf Coast with an emphasis on the Pascagoula River.
