Mushroom Science is a manufacturer of mushroom extracts used for medicinal purposes. They claim to have been offering medicinal mushroom supplements since 1994 and grow their own certified organic mushrooms. The company also promises to use the highest potency concentrations and to abide by quality control standards. Offering several different extracts of different mushroom varieties, Mushroom Science claims to be the only company in North America that lists the levels of the active compounds of the supplements on every label. The company is based in Eugene, Oregon.

REVIEW OF Mushroom Science
MushroomScience uses a variety of mushrooms that are the basis of the extracts. Nine different products are available: Cordyceps Cs-4, VPS Coriolis, Agaricus blazei, Coriolis PSP, Immune Builder, Lion’s Mane, Maitake Full Spectrum Extract, MaitakeGold-404, Reishi Gano 161. The extracts are mainly either dehydrated water or hot water extracts although some are alcohol-based, and the supplements come in capsule form. Most are based on a single mushroom extract; the Immune Builder is the exception, containing several different extracts. The main purpose of each supplement seems to be to provide immunity defense or increase energy. The most commonly used mushrooms in these formulas are the Cordyceps, Coriolis and Maitake. These are based on Chinese and Japanese traditional medicine formulas, though some varieties, such as Lion’s Mane, have been discovered more recently and are being researched for effectiveness. Cordyceps Cs-4 may promote energy and endurance, Coriolis and Maitake support the immune system, and Reishi may help treat sinus infections. Research in Western medicine is still fairly young and ongoing, so how beneficial these extracts are for long-term health is not known.
