Music Millennium is a full-service record store specializing in underground and local music in the Portland area. Since its opening in 1969, it has become a staple of the Portland community and, to many, even the entire Pacific Northwest (much like Powells Books). Find anything from foreign releases to out-of-date live performances. If you're not sure where to begin, start with a listening booth or by asking one of the employees. Keep in mind, this is not your typical mass music outlet. The employees are knowledgeable and opinionated, and in no place is this more clear than on their favorites wall. Listen to a variety of selections from the staff members themselves before you purchase.
Live Music
The west side location offers a variety of in-store performances from local and touring artists. Past appearances include Randy Newman, Brandi Carlile, Richard Thompson, Everclear, The Shins, Elliot Smith, Weezer and many more. Conveniently located on NW 23rd Ave., Music Millenium NW is surrounded by the boutique shops and restaurants that make up one of Portland's most cherished streets.
Keep Portland Weird Campaign
A public awareness campaign hosted by Music Millennium to support local and unique businesses over national chains. Purchase stickers, buttons, or t-shirts to support the cause and spread the word.
Customer Appreciation BBQ
An annual event with attendance exceeding 1500. Food, live music, and prizes from a spin on the 'Great Wheel of Wonder.'
