Hello, My name is Tom Perry, and I am a Golf Reservationist at the Myrtle Beach Golf Directors, here in North Myrtle Beach. I am a retired 20 year veteran of the U.S. Navy, who is originally from upstate New York, a small town called Amsterdam. I retired from the Navy in 1997, in Portsmouth R.I. with my wife Lorrie and our daughter Angela. I then worked as a Network Consultant for the State of Rhode Island in Providence R.I. until November 2002, when we relocated to Myrtle Beach. Myrtle Beach had been our family vacation spot for many years, so it was an easy choice to make this our permanent home. I am an avid golfer who enjoys playing different courses every chance I get. Working in the golf industry in Myrtle Beach has allowed me the opportunity to play all of the courses here and meet a lot of great people. I have played golf all over the country, but golf in Myrtle Beach is second to none. Originally from West Texas, I came here for the golfers’ haven that is Myrtle Beach. There is not much of anything in West Texas, just some oil, dirt and football games. Needless to say, there is plenty of golf here in Myrtle Beach. I didn’t grow up with all of the lush fairways and carpet-like greens that you see here in Myrtle. The layouts in West Texas don’t have a designer or architect. Wind and rain among other things (maybe cattle) carved my hometown layout. I, just like you, have an appreciation for great, championship golf. It might sound odd (my being from Texas), but I have played the game of golf for 18 years since I was at the age of 8. You might have thought I was into bull ridin’, but alas, I am a golfer. I have traveled the country in A.J.G.A. events won my high school district, and even been an assistant professional in Texas. I am currently a 6 handicap, and trying to improve my game. What better place to do that than Myrtle Beach? After attending the Golf Academy of the Carolinas, I became a Myrtle Beach Golf Director. I feel that my knowledge and experience play a vital role in booking the best golf package for you and your buddies.
