NYCfoto is the largest online collection of New York City photographs. Currently we have over 15,000 images in our collection which is always growing. All photos here (except members' contributions) are taken by authors of this site, Sergei and Daniil.
The idea to create such a site came to us when we tried to find some NYC photos online. To the great surprise, there weren't a lot places that offered extensive photo galleries of New York. A lot of sites showed small resolution photos of major landmarks, some sites had great photos but showed them only for a charge. We were bewildered by the fact that such great city as New York does not have a decent photo gallery. The idea to start some kind of photo collection came when we saw how quickly and conveniently we can post photos made with digital camera.
We want to show New York from many angles. We show not only its beautiful and famous landmarks, but also regular streets and not so famous neighborhoods. New York does not consist only of Empire State Building, 5th Avenue, Statue of Liberty, Times Square and Brooklyn Bridge. These are the most famous places, but they alone cannot describe the city. We are trying to show New York as it is seen by people who live and work here, and hope that this will help people from other cities and countries to understand and appreciate New York.
