North Carolina Mothers of Multiples
Description
In 1985, a group of mothers met in Charlotte for the first time. Their purpose was to investigate the possibility of forming a state organization of mothers of Twins Club. The National/State Liaison for the National Organization of Mothers of Twins Club, Inc., organized and chaired the meeting. Various information was shared as mothers met and discussed their local clubs, shared in workshops, ideas on organizing, fund raising, publicity and newsletters. Through this first meeting the idea was formed that yes, mothers of twins and multiples in North Carolina did want a State Organization, and yes, they could make it happen.
A follow up organizational meeting was held in Raleigh in 1986. A tremendous amount of work was accomplished, and this group was well on its way to becoming a real organization.
In 1987, in Hickory, NC, the NORTH CAROLINA MOTHERS OF MULTIPLES organization was chartered, accepting its first Constitution, bylaws, and electing its first slate of officers. An outline was set and adopted for dues to be paid. Other important positions were filled, and a state newsletter was planned. Our NC MOMs organization was truly born.
