What began as a small start-up in 1995 has grown into a major player in the rapidly expanding Mississippi ISP market. Internet Doorway -- or NETDOOR to its devoted customers -- was founded and incorporated in March of 1995 with the help of several small investors. NETDOOR commenced operations early in May of 1995. The company initially operated with minimal working capital and very little marketing in the form of a company brochure, a company web site, and the news of quality customer service spread by word-of-mouth.
In mid 1996, we moved from our initial offices in North Jackson to our corporate headquarters in downtown Jackson to be closer to the major telecommunications providers. This enabled us to increase our capabilities at a much greater rate without impacting our customers negatively. With an established multi-million dollar co-location center, we moved our corporate office back to North Jackson in 2004, leaving network operations personnel on site.
Accomplishments
NETDOOR has seen a lot of firsts in it's history. We were the first commercial ISP in Mississippi to have a T1 connection to the Internet, the first to have more than one local point of presence and the first to have multiple gateways to the Internet. NETDOOR was also the first to lead the way in high speed 56K analog access, as well as being the first in the state to support the ITU v.90/56k and USR x2 standard on 100% of our modems, and more recently we were the first to offer ADSL access.
