Green Party of Nevada | Welcome!
edit Description
Green politics in Nevada can be traced back to at least 1996, when Ralph Nader ran for president as a Green Party candidate - earning enough votes to keep the Green Party on the ballot for the following election and securing our place as a formidable minor party in the state of Nevada.
In January 2000, the flowering Green Party of Nevada boasted 924 registered voters. This same year, the Green Party fielded candidates for United States Senator (Kathryn Rusco) and Representative in Congress - District 2 (Charles Laws), in addition to Ralph Nader again for President. All candidates enjoyed very decent turnouts and managed once again to retain ballot access for the next election. By December 2000, the Green Party of Nevada had grown by 703 registered voters, bringing the total to 1627.
The 2002 election year brought the Green Party to host candidates for Representative in Congress - District 1 (Lane Startin), Governor (Charles Laws), Secretary of State (Paul Lenart), County Recorder (Brandi Harrington), and Public Administrator (Bob Parker), and also saw the number of registered Green voters grow to 2430.
