Title

the New Pantagruel: Hymns in the Whorehouse

Description

ublished by Pantagruel Press, a Missouri non-profit corporation in the process of applying for 501(c)(3) status, The New Pantagruel is an electronic journal run by a cadre of intemperate but friendly Catholics and Protestants who have seen other electronic journals run by Christians, and thought that while they might not be able to do better, they could certainly do no worse. The New Pantagruel does not have a doctrinal statement such as is typical for publications of this sort because its creators haven’t managed to agree on one. They do have an idea of what they’re about though, and if interested, you can read about it in the introduction to The New Pantagruel.

While The New Pantagruel is run by Christians, it isn’t specifically aimed at them. Anyone is welcome to submit writing or artwork, though if you've not bothered to read the sort of stuff we like to publish, you might be wasting your time. We’re picky and critical, but full of good humor. Prospective contributors should read our editorial guidelines. Other informative novelties include a collection of classic statements on "Pantagruelism," our July 2004 press release and a Pantagruelist poster announcing our first issue in January 2004.

As of May 2006, The New Pantagruel website has about 10,000 readers per month, 100,000 individual user sessions or visits, and approximately 1,000 referring pages from other sites. We are a no-budget, all-volunteer publication, but individual reader donations have been more than sufficient to cover our direct costs. In early 2006, we began selling advertising as well. We are currently seeking greater financial support that would enable us to pay staff and writers.
