News 10 Now began cablecasting on November 7, 2003--the eleventh 24-hour local news channel launched by Time Warner Cable nationwide. News 10 Now is seen by nearly 350,000 cable subscribers throughout the Time Warner Syracuse Division. It's a huge region, a 10,000 square mile chunk of Upstate New York spanning Tompkins County and the entire Greater Syracuse area, the Mohawk Valley, and the Watertown/St. Lawrence Seaway/Canadian border region. We operate in all or parts of four separate television markets: Syracuse, Utica, Watertown and Plattsburgh. Utilizing our five regional newsrooms, we offer the most efficient coverage available to the area.

The Syracuse Division first announced plans to create the news channel in 2000 and the project got off the ground with the purchase of the historic New York Central train station in Downtown Syracuse. Built in 1936, it was one of the most modern and ornate facilities of its time. In the early 1960s, due to the relocation of the railway lines, the building was converted into the Syracuse bus station. However, in the mid-1990s the building was abandoned and fell into disrepair. A voluntary remediation of the property began in 2001, done in cooperation with the New York Department of Environmental Conservation, and reconstruction of the building started in June 2002. The building and property has now been largely restored to its 1930s Art Deco grandeur and we're proud to have it as the headquarters for our state-of-the-art news operation.

Many of News 10 Now's team members are native Upstate New Yorkers who have chosen to return to this region to be part of the most technologically advanced newsgathering and production system in the nation. This system is used exclusively by Time Warner Cable and is one of the most accurate news networks available today.
