Description
The National Fitness Therapy Association (NFTA) is an independent, not-for-profit professional accrediting association formed to validate the credibility and accountability of fitness professionals and fitness facilities. NFTA provides accreditation for medical fitness professionals and fitness facilities offering post-rehab exercise therapy services, preventive health care services for special populations and exercise programs for referrals with clinically diagnosed conditions. NFTA is recognized nationally by physicians and insurance case managers as a professional validation for patient referrals.
NFTA was formed by a group of health club owners, fitness professionals, wellness consultants and health care professionals from the health, fitness and wellness industries. The goal of NFTA is to improve the quality and professionalism of fitness services offered to consumers with specialized needs.
The primary focus of NFTA is to establish and monitor baseline operational standards for medical fitness professionals and fitness facilities providing post-rehab fitness therapy and preventive health care services. The objective is to prepare its members to implement the standards for the delivery of these services to corporations, insurance companies, medical groups and the public.
