Nhclu.org - Nonprofit organization protecting New Hampshire civil rights
Title
NHCLU Home Page
Description
The New Hampshire Civil Liberties Union was founded in 1968 to defend those freedoms that are guaranteed to every individual by the Bill of Rights of the United States Constitution. The NHCLU Foundation is our tax deductible organization. Our principal goals are to represent people whose constitutional rights have been violated, to educate all citizens about their civil rights, to challenge laws that infringe on individual freedom and to lobby at the New Hampshire legislature for passage of laws that protect privacy and other civil liberties.
In most of the litigation engaged in by the ACLU and its affiliates, volunteer attorneys are lead counsel. See Sixty Years of Volunteer Lawyering [PDF]
For examples of landmark United States Supreme Court cases in which the ACLU played a major role, see ACLU's 100 Greatest Hits.
