Women in World War I - The National Archives have made available the surviving records of the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps renamed the Queen Mary's Army Auxiliary Corps (QMAAC) in April 1918. The records cover the period 1917-1921, and while some 57,000 women served in the corps during this period, an air raid in 1940 destroyed many of the records, however records for over 7,000 women are available at www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/documentsonline/waac.asp
Society Library Easter Holiday Closures - The Society Library will be closed on Saturday 15th and 22nd April but will be open on Wednesday 19th April.
NIFHS AGM 2006 - This years AGM will be held on 20th May in Lambeg Parish Church Hall. Clive Scoular will talk on selected events from the second world war, including the Belfast Blitz, the Battle of the Atlantic and the sinking of the City of Benares - more details here.
