team at Microsoft (which delivers IIS, ASP.NET and Visual Studio Web development tools). Specifically, I am responsible for the overall Web Forms (aka server controls, aka page framework) feature area. I've been working on the team since the early XSP and ASP+ days; prior to my current role, I led the development of the page framework and several of the controls you can find on the ASP.NET toolbox today. Hopefully that explains the buddy image that I've added for a touch of humor (the gear represents components btw). I have also been involved in IIS7 development recently, and on the tools end of things (Web Forms designer, CSS editor etc.) in the past.
Two other projects I have worked on during the years are Web Matrix (a managed IDE for Web Forms development that started out as a night project, and eventually became an inspiration for Visual Web Developer), and secondly, the book on authoring server controls: Developing Microsoft ASP.NET Server Controls and Components.
I've been working at Microsoft for 8 years now... I got my start in Visual InterDev (yes, on things like Design Time Controls, which really didn't go anywhere, but in some sense were precursors to server controls, as well as on things like Remote Scripting, which I guess was ahead of its time in '98, and is now making a come back under the guise of AJAX). So, I've been involved in the Web space for quite some time, and look forward to being a part of things to come in the future... in particular, "Rich Web Applications." Hmmm... I wonder if that exact phrase is in general use? I am also passionate about development tools, and frameworks - I guess that stems from the fact that I am just as much a consumer of these things, as much as I am involved in their creation.
