A Joint Venture Company was established in Latvia to foster trading links. This soon became the largest, net exporter of, sawn softwood from the Baltic States during the 1990's.
At the same time North Sea Lumber, successfully exported one of the first, timber cargoes from Russia; outside the former State controlled system. During 1999, NSL forged an alliance with Timbex. The two Companies now jointly sell export quality Redwood and Whitewood, from several major sawmills in the Archangel region. Solombala sawmill (the largest) has an annual capacity alone of 250,000 m3.
This recent partnership provides a formidable force in the market and ensures continued supply, from one of the best, softwood raw material areas.
