Description edit
About Us
On July 1, 2005 the Indianhead Council (St. Paul based) and Viking Council (Minneapolis based) consolidated to become a single council. This followed months of study, the recommendations of both Boards of Directors, and the approval by voting members of the councils at meetings held on March 30, 2005 . Northern Star Council, Boy Scouts of America is now among the five largest in the United States, serving more than 108,000 youths and families in all or part of 21 counties in Minnesota and four counties in Western Wisconsin.
Our name and logo were selected through a participatory process using online a written surveys. "Northern Star" is descriptive of our area of the country and relates to our mission of providing direction/guidance to young people. The logo is designed to be interpreted on many levels, showing a star moving upward and onward, the circle reflecting the points of a compass and the direction it offers, with the BSA fleur-de-lis in the center of it all.
National
Guide To Safe Scouting -- There are rules and policies for Scouting unit programs. Check and make sure that your planned activities are allowed and that your planned events are safe Scouting events.
