Description
The mission of the Norwalk Health Department is to prevent disease, assure a healthy environment and promote the highest quality of life within our changing community. During this fiscal year (7/1/04 - 6/30/05) there will be a focus on improvments in four areas.
One major focus will be on issues connected to Emergency response. Here, our efforts will be aimed at promoting greater regional cooperation and training Health Department employees around emergency response to biological- and chemical-related terrorism and disaster activities.
The second major focus will be on improving wellness and life styles within our community. The primary emphasis here will be on continuing to promote the NorWalker program and studying the impact of childhood obesity and nutrition on children within the Norwalk school system.
