Description
The NPS Foundation is a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization through which donations can be made available to the Naval Postgraduate School. In recent years, it has become a fact of life that federal funding for NPS is inadequate to provide the full range and depth of services expected at one of our country’s finest institutions of higher learning. As is the case at West Point and the Naval Academy, NPS funding must be augmented to provide necessary faculty support, recognition programs, facilities and equipment, and other programs for officer students.
Since its inception in 1970, the Foundation has fostered programs and activities on behalf of the Naval Postgraduate School. Recently, the Foundation has started an aggressive plan to raise funds for the school to ensure that high quality education at NPS will continue and improve. In addition, the Foundation is helping NPS get more recognition both locally and nationally.
In order to accomplish these tasks, the Foundation first must become a professional, properly staffed organization. Raising unrestricted funds for this purpose is therefore a priority. That objective and others are described in the Foundation Development Plan.
