NorthwestTekno - The Home of the Northwest Electronic Music Community

NorthwestTekno (and it's genesis — the printed "Scene Not Herd" zine) grew out of frustration with techno-culture. I want innovation and creativity to be the norm rather than the exception and for talented local artists to be recognized. Both SNH and NWT have been nonprofit ventures — I strongly disapprove of the commodification of this culture and those who seek to exploit it. I want to help people understand why we are so passionate about this community and its music. I want to inspire people to get involved and do something proactive, to collaborate with each other on projects and ideas, to put some real energy into improving what we have.
Please keep this in mind when posting and try to make your posts informative. If you want to chat casually, the chatroom is pretty busy and is a great place to relax and ramble about whatever's on your mind. Also, each user's profile has information on how to contact them for a chat off the board.
NorthwestTekno was founded by Kimberley Dietemann (aka "groovinkim") in May 1999 and was originally intended only to provide classified ads for the print zine "Scene Not Herd." Kimberley got busy with college though, and the zine fell by the wayside. In the meantime, NWTekno started growing unexpectedly into a popular site of its own accord. As it grew in popularity, more forums were suggested by the users and then added.
