Our obstetrics services are based upon the belief that pregnancy is not an illness but a natural process. We are capable of assisting patients interested in a VBAC (vaginal birth after caesarean) or who want only the best medical care for a high-risk pregnancy. During your appointment for obstetrics services we will listen to the baby’s heartbeat, check blood pressure, take a urine sample and perform any other necessary procedures. We encourage you to ask questions and express any concerns you might have about your pregnancy. At 16-20 weeks you may choose to have a maternal serum screening test called a Quad Screen, which tests for birth defects such as Down’s syndrome and Spina Bifida. At 18-20 weeks we offer a level II screening ultrasound. At this time you will be able to find out the sex of the baby if you wish. At 26-28 weeks our obstetrics services will perform a glucose tolerance test to screen for gestational diabetes.
