About Us
We are a privately held company focused on developing a compact yet powerful Object Oriented Database. We believe that developing object oriented applications is easier and more effective when the database content is represented by objects. Working directly with RDBMS (Relational Database Management Systems) puts an unnecessary burden on the developers, making them deal with tables, records and SQL in addition to the application's classes and objects.
Our flagship product, ObjectDB for Java/JDO, is a full featured object oriented database. Current editions of the ObjectDB database are for Java, but our future plans include developing editions of ObjectDB for Microsoft .NET as well. ObjectDB for Java/JDO is compliant with the Java Data Objects (JDO) standard developed by Sun (JSR12), and it has passed Sun's JDO TCK tests.
Java Data Objects (JDO) - and Us
Most other JDO vendors develop object-relational mapping tools. These mapping tools add JDO support for RDBMS like Oracle, IBM DB2, Microsoft SQL Server or MySQL. JDO for relational databases still requires the developer to work and to be familiar with the RDBMS and its tables. We, on the other hand, focus on developing a standalone database. Support for JDO is obtained simply by adding JAR files to the application's classpath - no need for RDBMS. We believe that ObjectDB for Java/JDO is an excellent database solution for a wide range of applications, and specially for web based applications.
