After spending 33 years owning and operating five different automotive businesses, we felt there was a need to create a directory for independently owned auto services shops. One that will feature shops that have built a solid reputation in their communities for fair business practices, experience and professional ethics.
We make every possible effort to check every shop and personally inspect their facilities. Before a shop is approached to join our directory, we check with The Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR) which is part of the California Department of Consumer Affairs for any major violations or disciplinary actions. Once we know that the shop has a clean record, we follow a set of guidelines that helps us determine whether we want to feature them in our directory and add our On Call Guy logo to their listing with us.
Independently owned auto services shops depend greatly on "word of mouth" as their best means of advertising. They don't possess the economies of scale to constantly "brainwash" the consumer with expensive radio, TV and newspaper ads. They don't have to answer to any Corporate pressure or mandates to reach sales' targets, they simply know that by offering quality workmanship, reasonable prices and excellent personalized service, the customers will keep on coming back to patronize their shops.
