I started the journal of a writing man on July 5, 1998 and maintained it on a pretty regular daily basis until July 25, 2002, on which day I felt obliged to withdraw all my archives, galleries and other material following on the latest in a long series of obscene attacks by an anonymous American cyber-stalker from San Francisco.

Yes, I gave up and threw in the towel. I removed my website, told my readers I was going on hiatus, and retired to lick my wounds. I challenge anyone to say I was not justified in taking a step back to get my breath after an unprovoked assault of such deviant virulence.

Let's be clear here. I'm 62 years old at the time of writing, British, in poor health with degenerative spondilitis and a wonky heart, and have been retired on an ill-health pension since I was 50. I'm gay, in a long-term relationship of some 25 years and my interests are in poetry, literature and gardening. To the best of my knowledge I'm no threat to anyone and never have been. I live quietly in the British countryside with my partner, my cats, my books and my music. When I'm able I do a little light gardening and gentle walking.
