Counselling gives you an opportunity to talk confidentially to someone who is neutral and non-judgemental. Everyone is unique and will have their own way of finding solutions to problems. Even when your difficulties feel completely overwhelming, having someone who listens to you and asks questions to clarify and gain a deeper understanding, can be really helpful. You will build a good therapeutic relationship with your counsellor and gradually you will find a way forward that is right for you.
For many people this is an ideal way of seeking help. You don't have to travel, you can respond in your own time and you don't need to let others know that you are seeking therapy. It may seem strange at first not to talk to someone face to face, but you will find that I will be 'listening' to you really closely as I read your emails and I will be thinking deeply about my replies. Some people find it helpful to save my emails and read them through a number of times.
