Wise won his preliminary feature on Friday after the 39th annual Western opened with California's Bud Kaeding taking the Thursday victory. On the inner third-mile, California's Cory Kruseman completed a similar sweep of Thursday preliminary and Saturday final after the Friday feature fell to Jeremy Sherman.
