The Oregon Herald is owned and published by THE OREGON HERALD CORPORATION, a non-profit company for the public good, Oregon's first newspaper. Our public news index is published internationally and is recognized as one of the most comprehensive indexes available anywhere, updated 24/7.
The Oregon Herald was founded in 1846 and later run by Sylvester Pennoyer who moved to Portland in 1855 at age 24, after graduating from Harvard. He soon became a successful real estate investor and in 1868 bought the Oregon Herald newspaper. He was the Governor of Oregon from 1886-1894 and Mayor of Portland from 1896- 1898.
