PALGROVE CHAROLAIS was founded by Peter & Valerie Bondfield and is one of Australia’s original Charolais studs, with the first Charolais X calves born in 1970. The cattle were originally upgraded from quality Shorthorns and Brahman females.
The Palgrove properties are situated at Dalveen (via Warwick in South East Queensland) - where the breeders are run. The bull depot is at Drillham (east of Roma) where all male cattle are sent as weaners to grow out. Palgrove also has properties at Ben Lomond, in the New England, NSW where the female weaners are sent until joining age.
At Palgrove we aim to produce bulls and females which assist our commercial clients to reach their specific target markets. To achieve this, the stud provides buyers with the most comprehensive carcase and performance data of any Charolais herd in the country. Objective data including Group Breedplan, Genestar marking and ultrasound are used in conjunction with strict physical assessment to select and maintain the unique ‘Palgrove Charolais type’.
