Pansea Orient-Express Hotels was formed at the start of 2004 by the partnership of Pansea Hotels & Resorts and Orient-Express Hotels, Trains & Cruises. Pansea's original properties included Pansea Angkor in Cambodia, Pansea Luang Prabang in Laos, Pansea Yangon in Myanmar, Pansea Puri Bali in Indonesia and Pansea Napasai in Thailand. The Ubud Hanging Gardens in Bali, currently under construction, are scheduled to open next year.
Orient-Express Hotels own 40 deluxe hotel, restaurant, tourist train and river cruise properties in 17 countries, including the Hotel Cipriani in Venice, the Villa San Michele in Florence, Le Manoir aux Quat' Saisons in England, the Ritz in Madrid and the Hotel de la Cite in Carcassonne, France. It also has investments in the Eastern & Oriental Express train which operates between Singapore and Bangkok and the Road to Mandalay cruise ship which operates on the Irrawaddy River in Burma.
The very nature of the properties under the Pansea Orient-Express Hotels banner is rooted in a desire for harmony with the environment. From the design phase, our hotels aim to reflect and protect their environments, and to propagate and preserve local traditions and indigenous style. When dilapidated properties are restored, this is done with the utmost respect for the original. When new properties are constructed, they are designed to maximize local content, style and traditions.
