PantiesAreUS was born in a small lingerie boutique in 1986 located in Rochester, New York. The boutique sold lingerie, but we specialized in hard to get nylon stockings, and had our own design of garter belts, manufactured for us locally. The first catalog, "Sheer Sensations" came out in 1987.
In 1988, our mail order business really started to take off and the boutique was closed to make more room for the increase in inventory. During this time it became apparent that the major growth area of the catalog was in hosiery and lingerie As chain stores, like Parklane Hosiery, Alberts Hosiery, and Lady Oris closed, "Sheer Sensations" purchased all of their remaining inventories for sale in their catalog.
With the sudden rise and apparent popularity of the Internet, "Sheer Sensations" became Stockingstore.com in 1995. The catalog business still survives as stockingstore.com, but the real growth has been on the Internet. "Sheer Sensations" was changed to "PantiesAreUS" with the growth of popularity on the internet. The stockingstore.com became so popular and the web site so large, that we decided to market our Lingerie products through a seperate web site.
