About Designs by Paulina
In early 2006, Paulina officially opened her online jewelry shop on the web. The formal name of her jewelry business is 'Designs by Paulina', but is sometimes referred to as 'Paulina's Designs' to match her website's URL.
Paulina closed her online store at Ruby Lane in June 2008. Her official website was relaunched in July 2008 and now allows purchases to be made directly from her site.
Designs by Paulina offers handmade dichroic fused glass jewelry in many different styles. Popular shapes include hearts, crosses, and her Pink Ribbon Pendant - used to raise awareness about breast cancer. Many other original artistic designs are available in a variety of colors. Additionally, she works with her customers to create custom pieces to fit their styles, colors, and design preferences.
Along with the launch of her new website, Paulina is offering many new products. Her dichroic glass accented wine bottle stoppers, purse hangers (handbag caddies) and keychains are quickly becoming some of her most popular items.
All of Paulina's items are handcrafted from vibrant dichroic glass. "Dichroic" is a Greek word: "di" meaning "two" and "chroic" meaning "color". This refers to the glass' ability to refract light; depending on the angle at which it is viewed, you will see multiple colors. The colors of the jewelry are spectacular - much more dynamic than the pictures can show.
The glass is layered and fused together in a kiln at 1500 degrees. Once fused, the jewelry is ground to shape, then fire polished with stunning results. Each piece is one-of-a-kind due to the nature of the glass - so each buyer gets a completely unique piece.
Pink Ribbon Campaign for Breast Cancer Awareness
In May of 2007, Paulina launched a Pink Ribbon campaign to support breast cancer research. Through her website, she sells Pink Ribbon dichroic fused glass pendants - half of the proceeds from each sale are donated toward breast cancer research.

"I originally made a Pink Ribbon pendant for my friend Dani who was diagnosed with breast cancer. Dani, who works at our local animal hospital, always greeted people with a smile and maintained a positive outlook throughout her treatment. She is a very strong, loving person who went through many months of treatment, she is a brave person and I admire her greatly. To show my support for Dani and every woman and family that has to face breast cancer, I have decided to make more Pink Ribbon pendants, with half of the proceeds from each sale being donated to breast cancer research."
