Description
The Peace Party is an independent, all-volunteer peace education organization committed to sustainable peace-building through creative nonviolence. By "party" we mean a festive gathering. Concerts, exhibitions and workshops all serve as organizing tools that bring artists and activists together to work for progressive social change.
The next World Social Forum will be held in Bamako, Mali (January 19-23, 2006), Caracas, Venezuela (January 24-29, 2006) and Karachi, Pakistan (March 2006). According to the Forum Charter of Principles, "this is an open meeting space for reflective thinking, democratic debate of ideas, formulation of proposals...opposed to neo-liberalism and...any form of imperialism." The Peace Party supports this process and will participate in the Caracas gathering. Check back soon for further details.
"We may never be strong enough to be entirely nonviolent in thought, word and deed. But we must keep nonviolence as our goal and make strong progress towards it. The attainment of freedom, whether for a person, a nation or a world, must be in exact proportion to the attainment of nonviolence for each."
