Title

Pediatrics on Hand : PDA Tools, Reviews & Software

Description

Pediatrics on Hand grew out of what I thought was a distinct void on the net. In my intern year at Children's National Medical Center (DC Children's) one of our chiefs at the time was eager to try to get PDA's into our residency. He (Bill Tsai, MD) wrote an internal grant to cover the costs and was awarded the cash. I was probably the biggest handheld junkie at the time and offered to help him find programs to load on the Handspring Visors. Also I agreed to help him administer the project, affectionately called the "Intern Visor Project."

Soon after we loaded the handhelds and passed them out to our interns (I was then a 2nd year resident), I found that there were more questions that I could handle in a day. Also some of the more ambitious users wanted to know where they could find more programs. A web site seemed to be the answer. After putting together information specific to our residency, it seemed logical to broaden the scope to anyone involved in pediatrics.

Since then there has been constant revision of the site. There has been some great feedback about what works and what does not. I have tried to keep the site fairly simple and easy to navigate. After realizing that my web design skills were lacking I sought help. In the spring of 2003 there was a dramatic change to the Peds on Hand look. The folks at Pubfolio are to thank for this and I soon realized that I should have done it long ago. It has been a great improvement.
