About Us
PhoneTech Wireless Consultants was established by Penelope Stetz. After working in the cellular industry for 10 years, Stetz felt that people needed access to an unbiased source of information about wireless telephony; someone who could provide all sides of the story.
Most consulting firms cater only to businesses. PhoneTech provides consulting for individuals as well, because they also have a need for information.
As a sales representative for a major handset manufacturer selling directly to end-users, Penelope sold equipment and airtime service to both individuals and companies. The volume sales to companies involved establishing managed cellular programs. Wireless telephony seemed confusing to many when there were only two cellular companies. Then the cellular companies began implementing two different digital technologies: code division multiple access (CDMA) and time division multiple access (TDMA). PCS (1900 MHz service) in the United States offers as many as six different carriers with four different digital technologies: CDMA, TDMA, and Global Systems for Mobile communication (GSM). Even though Stetz was working in the industry, she was getting confused. Penelope saw no one trying to make sense of it all so she established PhoneTech as an information resource.
