Picks and Stones is a small, two person business, located in beautiful Humboldt County, on California's Redwood Coast. We have been in business for only a few years, and already we are amazed at the reception our picks are getting!
All of our picks are hand-crafted from rough stone by our lapidist, Johnny Wood. Johnny has been playing guitar for over 20 years. He studied the art of shaping and polishing rocks with master lapidist, Nevin Franke, of Burnie's Rock Shop in Madison, Wisconsin. He began making stone guitar picks out of curiosity- wondering what stone picks could do for his own playing. He wasn't disapointed! Over time, he perfected his stone picks to fit his own strict playing standards. In 2003, Johnny and his partner, Megan, moved to Arcata, California, and Picks and Stones was born! Using Megan's web and bookeeping skills, Picks and Stones has grown into a thriving small business. We are constantly amazed by the enthusiasm of our customers. We love to hear from you with whatever questions or feedback you have!
