+ + + PIRATES COVE + + +

Description

Back in the day, the Pirates Cove was home to many local acts, Pere Ubu and Devo come to mind, that entertained a generation with their unique sounds and innovative styles. The same could be said for the underground scene, which thrived in the downtown Flats location. It is with this mindset that we proudly announce the reopening of the Pirates Cove, in both location ( 2083 1/2 East 21 Street on the Cleveland State University Campus ) and in spirit.

Whoever said size matters was right, and smaller is definitely better when seeing live music! For decades, the music scene in Northeast Ohio embraced the little band that could, with various small rooms bringing bands in from across the globe for memorable shows without capacity considerations dictating who played and who didn't. Clubs such as the Euclid Tavern and Speak In Tongues provided DIY character in intimate surroundings. No corporate bullshit, no excessive ticket charges, no hassles.

That's where the Pirates Cove once again comes ashore, allowing nascent bands an intimate and memorable space in Cleveland. All music fans have stories about seeing a then unknown band play a little room, and the Pirates Cove is that place where legends begin. So in the tradition of smaller rooms around the world, the Pirates Cove will cater to the rock'n'roll void that currently has taken hold in Northeast Ohio.
