Policy Development: Improving Social Policy and Strengthening NGOs
Description
Policy Development began as a group of Princeton University graduate students interested in distributing the benefits of an elite education to "the real world." These young professionals deferred careers in large public and private sector institutions, setting out to personally bring their new networks of expertise to non-profits delivering social services directly to those in need.
Policy Development began building bridges between direct services providers and the policy community, helping service organizations reach up to the policy community, and helping the policy community reach down. When these two sectors interact, the benefits are mutual: the first-hand experience of direct service organizations becomes input for high-level policy debate, while greater policy awareness becomes an input for better direct service program planning.
Today, Policy Development's client portfolio includes the World Bank, the United Nations Association, the Rockefeller Brothers Fund*, the Phipps Community Development Corporation, and the African Services Committee. All of these clients cite tangible analytic and organizational development results from their work with Policy Development.
