Founded in 1964 by the current Managing Director, Colin Harwood, this family business has grown from its humble beginnings to the existing site of more than six thousand square feet.
Although the current workforce totals more than 20 Polymet is very much a family business. Colin's wife Ann is the company secretary and has been involved in accountancy since the early 1960's. Their two sons, Russell and Stuart, who qualified as a draughtsman and sheet metal worker some time ago have both been an integral part of the business since the late 1980's. The Works Manager Ronald Thompson, although not part of the family, is very much part of the family business, having been with the company since 1979. With the combined experience of the management team Polymet are able to offer help and advice on many aspects of Fabrication, Polishing and also Design when required.
Their policy of providing a competitive service whilst maintaining total customer satisfaction has proved to be a successful formula for steady growth. In recent years the company has experienced an average growth rate of 15% per annum allowing for further investment in new plant and enabling them to undertake a commitment to Health and Safety in the workplace. This commitment was subsequently reinforced by the appointment of a Health & Safety Advisor.
