Power of the Tongue Ceo and Founder is Performance Poet, Motivational Speaker, and Author,Ge'ylah (Geylah) Jones Bradford. Refered to as a poetry phenom, Ge'ylah Jones Bradford began reciting classic literature at the age of five. By the time she reached 16 years of age she had memorized fifty classic poems, monologues, soliloquies and prose pieces. She began a nationwide college and university tour, performing a eductaional as well as entertaining one-woman show in February of 1998. She has performed at over four hundred colleges and universities since then.
Geylah Jones Bradford is the author of FORENSICS, a public speaking curriculum for youth and teens. She also authored The Power of Perfromance: Promoting, Marketing and Performing Poetry and Spoken Word. Often called a "Poetic Encyclopedia", Bradford is extremely popular for her renditions of Maragret Taylor Burroughs What Shall I Tell My Children Who are Black, Sonia Sanchez' s middle passage poem Improvisations and Nikki Giovanni's classic Ego Tripping. In the performance the captivating performance artist nails the depiction of Pre through Post slave era authors Jupiter Hammond, Luci Terry and Frances Ellen Watkins Harper. She belts out Billie Holiday's Strange Fruit while weaving in Poet, Nichole L Shields, literary monument "Southern Hospitality", video footage plays along with the performance to encapsulate the full auro of the presentation.
