Silver Screen Movie Museum & Archive Home

Description

The original WITCH'S DUNGEON CLASSIC MOVIE MUSEUM opened in Bristol, Connecticut in 1966, a tribute to the actors and effects artists who have given us the classic fantasy films. It is considered the longest running exhibit of its kind in the country (as stated by "Entertainment Tonight").

Now part of the newly expanded SILVER SCREEN MOVIE MUSEUM & ARCHIVE, and renamed THE WITCH'S DUNGEON HOUSE OF WAX, it currently features highly accurate, life-size figures from the horror and sci-fi classics. The heads are based on life-casts of the actual actors: Boris Karloff, Bela Lugosi, Vincent Price, Lon Chaney, etc. Background sets and clothing are authentic to the era, with some costumes or props actually used in the original films. As you tour the exhibit, special voice-tracks recorder by Vincent Price, June Foray, Mark Hamill and John Agar, virtually bring the diaramas to life.

Currently, the "Dungeon" is only open during October. The new Silver Screen Movie Museum & Archive will be open year-round, with seminars for film students, featuring special guests from the movie industry. This country is best known for the art of the cinema. Fantasy films are timeless, becoming American icons. The expansion of this museum will preserve the legacy of this genre, for generations to come.
